History

Coutinho Caro + Co was originally established in 1895, the activities of MPC Münchmeyer, Petersen & Co. date back to 1846.

In his capacity as Managing Partner of R. Petersen & Co., Axel Schroeder sen. merged the two firms into MPC Münchmeyer Petersen & Co. in 1972. Today, he and his sons, Dr. Axel Schroeder and Dr. John Benjamin Schroeder, together with Mr. Clemens Weber and Dr. Klaus Lesker jointly manage the family-owned holding company, which is divided into three divisions: Capital Investments, Shipping and Shipbuilding as well as Commodities and Machinery.

In 1996 MPC acquired Coutinho Caro + Co, a well-known international trading company handling commodities such as steel and non-ferrous products and other commodities as well as machinery, originally established by the Coutinho-family in 1895 in Hamburg, Germany.

CCC Machinery GmbH was founded in 1989 and originally named Coutinho Caro & Co Remscheid GmbH. Today The MPC Group concentrates all project trading activities of the group into CCC Machinery GmbH, thereby strengthening the market power and assuring advantages for both suppliers and customers.

Trade in machinery, technical equipment and tubular products as well as development of renewable energy projects, often in combination with the provision and arrangement of financing solutions for the products offered, have been among the major fields of business of the parent companies, MPC Münchmeyer, Petersen & Co. and Coutinho Caro + Co, for more than 160 years.
